Cross Island drive

We left Kaikoura this am for the cross island trek, 330k to Greymouth on the west and rainy coast.  We had lots of rain but didn't complain too much after seeing lots of cyclists doing the same very hilly and curvy route.  Not many services, we were looking for fuel and found something quite smart,  it's a 24 hour gas pumps activated by my VISA card which is in danger of melting.  Here are some pics, we crossed quite a mountain range.  In Greymouth the surf is pretty big and nasty looking. It's a lot wetter on this side they have normal looking lawns and tons of vegetation.
