We are in Franz Josef western NZ. It's famous for it's glacier. We're staying in a motel right beside the river that runs from the glacier. In the pic you can see our motel which is below river level as the river bed has risen substantially over the years as rocks have been carried downstream as the glacier melts.. The bridge just near us is a Bailey bridge designed by wait for it, Bailey who was a British engineer attached to the British Army. The bridge is well known for it's simplicity of assembly from pre manufactured parts, requiring no special tools and strong enough to carry a tank. Here it is plus a river pic.
