Still at sea

Still at sea, next day

Argh, have you ever been to sea Billy?  Aye Captain Hind Grinder I have.
The wind she slows on the Tasman Sea

Pretty breezy and cool this am.  Bigger swells from astern, a little bit of rolling as the ship has stabilizers, however the fore and aft pitching is quite pronounced.  The whole ship is cracking and every once in awhile there is a pretty good shudder.  Going to a talk by one of the navigation officers today...just back from eight
laps around the deck, lots of motion.  The stabilizers are working well, minimal rolling, lots of pitching fore and aft plus a lot of yaw, I guess Asa result of the stabilizers.  As you're walking the length of the ship the yaw is very obvious, it looks like a drunk is steering.  Lots of motion and wind at the stern.  Wind 30 knots from about 4:30. Lots of guys doing maintenance, painting, sanding and varnishing.
Just back from the 2nd officers talk.  He's from Victoria, speaks well, very informative.  We were doing 18 knots yesterday to get ahead of the schedule a bit so we could slow down today as it is rougher.  They have lookout on the bridge who is not to be disturbed.  His job is solely to lookout for whatever 24 hours a day.  The ship conventionally power with two props 5 metre diameter each with thrusters fore and aft.  Four diesel generators burning 1.2 tons each per hour.  All waste and garbage is treated and sent over board, after the recycling stuff has been removed.  We make most of,the water we use.  1pm pos 44.12s. 162.19w.

The pic below is Karen Latimers (Bryan and Anne's neighbours) sister and her friends from the Maritimes, we met them at dinner.
